To Obtain a Tax Identification Number
As per the IRS regulations, in order to obtain a TIN number for those who are ineligible for Social Security Number, you must include a completed IRS Form-W7 (PDF) along with the 1040 return. Such returns cannot be e-filed but paper or PDF format will be mailed to you for submitting to authorities.
With each W7, the following notarized copies must be mailed from your end:
For Spouse:
- Marriage Certificate
- Passport copy
- Tax Payer’s Visa copy
For Dependent Children:
- Birth Certificate
- Passport copy
- Tax Payer’s Visa copy
We shall review your documents if completed copies are submitted with w2. Do not mail any originals. Photocopies or soft-copies will do.
IRS may issue the TIN, update your 1040 info and release the refund or they would send all papers back to you with the TIN and you have to resubmit 1040 with new Tax ID number against each name. It mostly depends on the individual who handles your file.
Once you get the tax documents from our office, mail the package (1040 with w2 form attached and W7 attachments as above) to the address given below:
